- New MG TF Wows the
Crowds at Silverstone International |
|

The
number of people pausing to drink in the looks of the stunning new MG TF over
the weekend of June 23rd and 24th must be a measure of the enthusiasm with which
the market will greet the new car later this year.
Elegantly displayed on an octagonal stand mirroring the MG logo, the
eye-catching Vibrant Orange coloured vehicle was the talking point of many
visitors to the 57th annual MG Car Club gathering at Silverstone.
A slow start on the waterlogged Friday soon gave way to throngs of crowds
weaving their way in amongst over 500 shining examples of MG history,
culminating in the pre-production TF LE 500; a classic of the future!
During its first public outing the TF was stroked, examined, photographed,
talked about and admired by no less than 7,000 people and over 5,000 copies of
the new brochure were handed out by members of the Longbridge team. Questions
from the enthusiastic public came thick and fast as people enquired about all
aspects of the new car and couples opened preliminary negotiations on whether
they should be the first to place a TF order.
For those of you who are asking the same question on availability, we say this;
consultations for dealer representation are nearing conclusion around the UK.
Prospective franchise holders represent a mix of businesses that previously held
the franchise and newcomers to the marque. By the time the vehicle is launched
in autumn, we hope to have a network of approximately 40 businesses to support
our vehicle owners and this will quickly build over the following months.
Geographically, the prospective businesses are neatly spread out but there has
been notably strong interest from the Channel Islands, Northern Ireland,
Southern Central counties and Wales as well as overseas enquiries from South
Africa, New Zealand, Holland and ex British colonies.
Crowds of fans were also treated to the NAC sponsored Trophy races for the TF
and MGZR. This was the first time the MG manufacturer has supported the Car Club
event in this way and Richard Ji, Managing Director at Longbridge who presented
the winning trophies commented on the exceptional spirit of competition
throughout the racing. In his speech Mr Ji thanked the public for their support
of the marque and spoke of NAC’s guardianship of the brand and commitment to a
successful launch.
Commenting on the event, guests to the stand were enthusiastic about the new car
and many were surprised to hear it is going to be built at Longbridge. The
‘vibrant orange’ colour of the display model certainly got the car noticed, so
just to confirm to those who enquired, there are 5 other colours in the LE
range, you don’t have to order one in orange!
